"The mark of great sportsmen is not how good they are at their best, but how good they are at their worst."
The Hagerstown Area Police Athletic League is a not for profit organization which was established in 1997 to build and maintain a strong bond between the youth and law enforcement of Washington County, Maryland, with the assistance of the Washington County Community.
It is the mission of the H.A.P.A.L. to provide a safe location where productive, educational and recreational activities are held for any interested youth ages 5-18 who desire to be part of our programs.
The Directors Board for the H.A.P.A.L. feel that our greatest accomplishments are the youth we serve who will one day be our future leaders. We must continue to put as much time, money and commitment into molding our youth so that they will grow into productive, law abiding adults, ready to serve our community.
The Hagerstown Area Police Athletic League offers numerous athletic programs for the youth of our community. These range from weight lifting to wrestling to basketball. As the H.A.P.A.L. grows, our goal is to expand the programs which already exist and to develop more programs. All of our programs focus on the importance of sportsmanship and character.
